Europe Calling LIVE from Vienna – Witness the Charter Moment of Europe’s first travelling Peoples’ Assembly

23.May 18:00 - 25.May 12:00

Dear friends,

We’re writing with great excitement as Europe’s first travelling Peoples’ Assembly concludes the first leg of its journey this weekend in Vienna.

On Sunday and after intense deliberation, the members of the assembly will present the final outcome, the so-called “Charter”, to the public and to decision-makers, both from European as well as national level. You can witness and be part of this historic moment live online,

on Sunday, 25 May from 11:00 – 12:00h CEST.

Register here to witness the Moment of the Charter!

In the spirit of radical transparency, the assembly is also livestreamed. Wherever possible, you can follow all moments live as they unfold, especially:

  • Friday 23 May | 18:00–21:00
  • Saturday 24 May | 09:00–17:00
  • Sunday 25 May | 09:00–13:00

Click here to find all the livestreams (starting Friday)

Feel free to invite your friends, family, and wider networks to join remotely. This moment belongs to all who care about the future of democracy in Europe.

The moment will be in English with subtitles in many other languages.

Thank you for being part of this democratic adventure. We can’t wait to share this moment with you!

Warmly,
The Democratic Odyssey team

P.S.: We at Europe Calling have been part of this journey from the very beginning, first with the ‘Power to the People’ format and then with the Democratic Odyssey. Max will be in Vienna for us to coordinate the livestream and webinar. Many thanks to all our supporting members and donors who make this ongoing support for democratic innovation possible!

More on the Democratic Odyssey journey here:

Starting in September 2024, we held in-person meetings in Athens and Florence, along with online gatherings, that brought together members from across Europe, including local residents from the cities visited by the Assembly. Participants engaged in multilingual, transnational deliberations to develop proposals on how the EU can better prepare for and respond to future crises, and how citizens can actively contribute. Our process is neither totally top-down (initiated by an institutional authority) nor completely bottom-up (initiated by civil society alone), but follows a third way. It is initiated, carried and supported by a coalition of actors from all walks of life. Learn more, join the wider assembly and its discussion here!
