“Beyond the Headlines: Israelis, Iranians, and Palestinians in Their Own Words. United Against the War.”
Dear friends,
Mainstream media coverage of the current escalation in Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and many other places often reduces entire communities and regions to a single, simplified narrative, labelling people as enemies or monolithic in their views. It rarely includes the voices that oppose authoritarianism and the current wars — whether Israelis, Iranians or Palestinians.
And even more rarely do we hear directly from people experiencing these realities first‑hand, whose daily lives are shaped by conflict, displacement and repression. Their experiences are filtered, simplified or ignored entirely.
This event aims to change that. The call is about first‑hand testimonies; giving space to people and stories from directly affected countries and from diasporas, across various communities, echo one another in their calls for dignity, safety and freedom. We want to bring depth, humanity and clarity to a conversation that is too often dominated by distant commentators and political actors.
