Dear friends!

Strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs) are being used by corporations and powerful actors to silence activists, journalists, and organisations defending human rights and the environment. From absurd billion-dollar claims in the US to ongoing intimidation in Europe, SLAPPs threaten not just individuals and organisations but the very foundations of democratic debate. EU member states have until 7 May 2026 to bring the anti-SLAPP directive into their national laws, but so far, little progress has been made, and it’s up to us, the people, to protect our freedoms.

In this webinar, Europe Calling is teaming up with Greenpeace and the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE).  Join us to learn, connect, and build solidarity across movements. Together we can stop the abusive practice of SLAPPs, protect free expression, and hold power to account!

Our speakers are:

  • Flutura Kusari, Senior Legal Advisor at European Centre for Press & Media Freedom (ECPMF)
  • Nawojka Ciborska, Environmental Activist, Last Generation Poland and Gastivists Collective
  • Tina Urso, Chief Operating Officer of the Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation
  • Daisy Ruddock, Coordinator for the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe
  • Kasey Valente, Senior Legal Project Manager at Greenpeace International
  • Sanna Ghotbi,  Co-Allyship Lead at Greenpeace International
