Between 2 and 13 terminals, fixed, floating, everything seems possible. Some fear a fossil lock-in due to large overcapacities, others argue with safety reserves, the precautionary principle and supply for European neighbours. On paper, they all have the same goal: enough gas to ensure a secure supply in the face of the Russian war of aggression, and so little that the climate goals are achievable.<\/p>\n<p><b>The problem is that citizens and even activists can hardly see through the jumble of studies, assumptions and often contradictory arguments. Transparency is scarce.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, opponents and supporters of the current plans in Germany and the EU do not talk to each other in public, but mainly about each other. This creates uncertainty and could result in a loss of confidence in the energy transition in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>With this Europe Calling webinar, we want to counteract this and create transparency and clarity through direct interaction between the leading actors from politics, science and civil society and, of course, especially with you citizens. We also want to take a special look at the European perspective. What does Germany need in terms of new LNG infrastructure in Europe? What do Germany\u2019s European neighbours really need?<\/p>\n<p>We will be joined by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Dr. Patrick Graichen<\/b>, State Secretary for Energy at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Prof. Dr. Claudia Kemfert<\/b>, Head of the Department of Energy, Transport, Environment at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) Berlin<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sascha M\u00fcller-Kraenner<\/b>, Federal Executive Director of the Deutsche Umwelthilfe (German Environmental Aid)<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mechthild W\u00f6rsd\u00f6rfer<\/b>, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission&#8217;s Directorate-General for Energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>When?
