This Wednesday, the EU Parliament will take its final vote on the EU Commission&#8217;s proposal to classify gas and nuclear power as sustainable. The Economic and Environmental Committee of the EU Parliament had already clearly rejected this three weeks ago. Now, the all-important vote in the EU Parliament is about to take place. And one thing is certain:<\/p>\n<p><b>It will be really, really close.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Christian Democrats, Social Democrats, Liberals, Left and Greens have tabled a cross-party resolution rejecting the harmful re-declaration of gas and nuclear as green energies. However, the necessary majority of 353 MEPs for a complete rejection of this greenwashing is not yet secured. The credibility of Europe&#8217;s renewable energy transition would be seriously harmed. At the same time, new studies show that there was massive lobbying in the run-up to the Commission&#8217;s decision &#8211; especially from Russia. Putin&#8217;s negotiating weapon is gas, with which he has a firm grip on Europe. The studies reveal countless meetings between the Russian energy companies Gazprom and the Commission. <b>Putin&#8217;s energy companies would profit massively from receiving gas.
