SUMMARY:“Beyond the Headlines: Israelis\, Iranians\, and Palestinians in Their Own Words. United Against the War.”
DESCRIPTION:Register here! 1800 – 1930h CET (5-6:30 pm BST\, 7-8:30 pm TLV time) \nDear friends\, \nReporting on conflicts and wars\, such as those in Iran\, Lebanon\, the Gaza Strip and many other places\, often runs the risk of reducing entire communities and regions to a single narrative\, or of portraying people as enemies or as having monolithic views. It is also not uncommon for the voices of those directly affected – whether Israelis\, Iranians or Palestinians – who speak out against authoritarianism and the current wars to be missing. \nIt is rare to hear directly from people who experience these realities at first hand and whose daily lives are shaped by conflict\, displacement and oppression. This event aims to change that. The focus is on first-hand accounts; we are giving space to people and stories from the directly affected countries and from the diaspora\, which\, across different communities\, reflect their shared call for dignity\, security and freedom. We want to bring depth\, humanity and clarity to a discussion that is all too often dominated by distant commentators and political actors. \nJoin us as we discuss this pressing situation with our panel: \n\nDr. Sarit Larry is an active member of Israeli civil society and Deputy ED of strategy and content at Zazim – Community action.\nAmira Musallam is a Palestinian researcher and advocate\, focusing on conflict-related data collection\, political violence analysis\, and unarmed civilian protection.\nAnd further guests\nModeration: Amélie Pasmanns and Maximilian Fries from Europe Calling\n\nHosted by: 38 Degrees\, Campact\, Zazim\, Europe Calling and NODE \nThe webinar will be simultaneously translated into German and English. \nJoin us and invite others. \nAmélie and Max for Europe Calling and on behalf of all partners of this event

SUMMARY:Europe Calling "La mobilità unisce l'Europa - Webinar italo-tedesco sul futuro della mobilità"

SUMMARY:Europe Calling "Social work and the far right in European democracies – What is happening at present\, and how is the social work sector responding?" Insights from the tri-national research project SoFRiED
DESCRIPTION:Register here! \nDear friends\, \nAcross Europe\, far-right parties are gaining influence and power. This is not merely a political shift; it is already having an impact on day-to-day social work\, from funding priorities and institutional frameworks to professional values and relationships with service users. In a context shaped by racist and exclusionary ideologies\, professional standards are being called into question across the board. \nWhat does this mean in practice? How do social workers\, organizations\, and associations respond? \nThis Europe Calling webinar presents initial findings from the SoFRiED research project\, which examines the impact of far-right politics on social work in Germany\, Austria\, and Hungary. Based on empirical research\, we will explore the following points: \n\nhow far-right discourses and policies shape the structures and practices of social work;\nthe challenges faced by professionals and organizations;\nthe strategies developed to defend professional ethics\, human rights\, and democratic values.\n\nWe will also discuss examples from the three countries and invite participants to reflect on their own experiences and contexts. \nSpeakers: \n\nProf. Dr. Júlia Wéber\, Project Leader of the SoFRiED research network and Professor of Migration Society and Democracy Education at the Department of Social Work\, Education\, and Childhood Studies at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences.\nProf. Dr. Christine Krüger\, Professor of Social Sciences and Qualitative Social Research at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences\, Department of Social Work\, Education\, and Childhood Studies.\nMag.
